Investiture Ceremony 2016

Gautam Sawang I.P.S. Commissioner of Police, Vijayawada while addressing the students of Madonna school and College for the Deaf on their investiture ceremony, held on 22 July 2016
After accepting the salute over the march past given by the Students of both institutions, an impressed Sawang went on to say, ‘ I have never seen such an orderly march past and your discipline and performance is very impressive and is an inspiration to me. I am so happy to be here with you and you always must work hard to enhance your talents and concentrate on studies as well as co-curricular activities to come out as contributing citizens’. He administered the pledge to the group leaders of the institutions, and interacted with the staff, students and management of the institutions. The students of Madonna Degree College for the deaf and the school for the deaf presented Cultural items.
Smt. Sivaranjani the Corporator of Gunadala., Fr. Deva Dattu of Vijayawada Diocese, Sr. Celine Mary founder Principal , Sr. Mercy the Principal of Madonna college, Sr.Maria the Headmistress of Madonna High School, staff and parents attended.

Academic Results:
The overall pass percentage of the outgoing batch of B.Com students. During April, 2016 examination was 100%. The intermediate first and second Year students have also obtained 83% and 91% results respectively.
Special Features : The following are some of the salient feature of the Madonna College for the deaf.
The Students are trained through total communication method for the deaf by the Lecturers having special training to teach the Hearing Impaired.
The students excel not only in studies but also in co curricular and extracurricular activities. A number of them have brought laurels to the institution.
The out gone students pursue MBA and M.Com through various universities.
We train our students technically by teaching those skills such as C.I.T.A. & D.T.P. This enables our students to help them earn a job, as soon as they complete their studies.
New Admission for the Academic Year – 2016-17:
The rush for admissions into Madonna College for the Deaf is ever increasing. 112 students are admitted during the academic year 2016-17. The breakups of new admissions made are: 29 from Junior Intermediate, 72 students from B.Com 1st Year and 11 got admitted into M.Com 1st Year.
Staff development programme:
An Orientation programme for the staff was conducted by Rev.Fr. Deva Kumar on 11-06-2016. The Teaching & Non-Teaching staff from Madonna College along with Vijaya Mary school for the Blind participated in this Programme.
To enhance the IT based teaching skills, an in-service Computer Training programme was organized during October, 2016. Dr. G. Sahaya Baskaran of Andhra Loyola College was the resource person.
Student development activities
Intramural Volley Ball Competition was held on 3-11- 2016 in which inter and degree students were actively participated.
A Student’s seminar on ‘Goal setting’ by Dr. G. Sahaya Baskaran as the resource person was conducted during 25th July and 26th July 2016.
The inaugural of the Commerce Association for the academic year 2016-2017 was held on 21-07-2016. This association provides a platform to bring out innate talents of our students.
4 A certificate course in IT application is offered to the interested students of college in association with Andhra Loyola College. 48 of our Students have participated .
5. A special camp for the N.S.S volunteers was organized by the Krishna University at Velupuru from 28th November, 2016 to 5th December, 2016. From our college, 100 students participated and contributed to the community development.
6. Swatch Bharath programme, as a part of N.S.S activity was organized on 07th November, 2016 at ESIC, SRO Gunadala and 100 volunteers of N.S.S actively participated.
7. Our students organized a Rally to create awareness on AIDS. Holding a number of banners with attractive slogans, our students started the rally from our college at 11.30 a.m on 1.12.16 and reached the Govt, Hospital. Sr. JojiRani N.S.S programme officer, Mr.Leanord Physical educational teacher and Mrs. Sunitha & Ms.Nirmala along with 100 students marched forward to the hospital.
8. Visit to Milk project
Sr.Mercy.college principal, sr.Jojirani & Msr.Shanthakumari and our e II.B.com. students had a field trip to the Milk factory in Vijayawada. Sr.Mercy, the principal of our college took III.B.Com. Students to a field trip to the Sugar factory in Uyyuru.
Colorful Celebrations 2016-17:
Madonna respects the faith and Culture of all the religions. In order to cultivate mutual respect for all the religions in the students, festivals of all religions of all religions are celebrated with equal importance. These Celebrations and functions organized throughout the year are also aimed at encouraging our students to bring out their innate talents and to boost their moral. Inauguration of Commerce association, Fresher’s day, Foundation day of our institution, Independence Day, Madonna feast, Teacher’s day, Deepawali, World Disabled Day, Christmas And Sankranthi Celebrations are some such occasions that help our students grow multi –dimensionally. These occasions serve the purpose of inculcating many good values of life and also provide our students a much needed self confidence.
Achievements in cultural Competitions ,Sports and Games:
Our Students, in spite of their apparent disadvantages , have proved many times that they can compete with normal students.
Our students had participated Bemus -2016 the Commerce fest organized by Andhra Loyola College on 08-09-2016. N.Hema Naidu, Sk. Baji Bag, Bharat, Ch.Chamini and Uha. participated in Dance competition and got the 2nd Prize in this State level competition.
Nine of our students have participated in State level Volleyball match held at Vishakapatam, conducted during 01-11-2016 to 03-11-2016 and our students got 1st prize in this tournament.
The cultural meet 2016 was organized by the Madonna college for the Deaf during 03rd -05th, October 2016. This competition is aimed at nurturing the innovative spirit in the students. The competitions organized as part of this cultural meet are: Rangoli, Mime, Fancy dress, Art from waste material, Cooking and Flower arrangement.
Looking in to future
As ours is the only college ,offering degree course to the deaf students in this region, there is a huge rush for admission . We need to start 1st floor of the building to accommodate more classrooms.
